Darn Turkeys!! I need some turkey help here

My dad's friend see's toms strutting right where we hunt every day. When my dad and I decide to hunt we dont see or hear a thing. I dont know whats going on. My dad's friend isn't lieing either. The first day we hunted we saw some hens with no beards so we couldn't shoot them. Any suggestions?

All I can think of is find another spot to hunt.

Set-up a blind and a few decoys (2 hens, 1 jake) and just do some soft calling and wait.

Maybe your tryin to set up to close and your bumping them with out even knowing it? if not then try some of the other suggestions like using a hen decoy with a jake decoy. and dont try and call to much, just a few calls here and there to let them know you are there is all you need.

you might be going at a different time of day too... all animals usually have a set pattern that they follow faithfully... find it out and work with it

i agree, but later in the season don't use the calls just use the decoys, cause they eventually might run the other way from a call, from all the others hunting them.

I use a hen and a jake decoy. How often should you call?

If I was you I would set up where he normally is...NO DECOYS..Hes obviously smart. If he is coming near you...Dont call...If hes going away...Then try..9 times outa 10 the hens will take him away. Where the hens go He goes..If hes in a field that also good. Try to ambush him. Get ahead of them where they start going off the feild. Or a tactic..Get a turkey fan or Decoy.. Crawl out toward the turkeys in the feild untill your in range....Or they run. But Decoys...Calling is basically a no go..Hes to smart for that.

Call every 10 minutes or so, you dont have to set a watch by it. Setup early in the morning and just wait. You may have to stay put for a quite a while but if they are there, they will eventually show up. If you have one answering your call but sounds a long ways off, move closer and setup again. I would ask the guy when and where he sees them strutting. Then go out and set up where they have been strutting, call and wait. Good luck.
