Planting trees in fields
Does anyone know if there are any benefits to turning fields back into woodlands? Taxes? Assistance?
I have been planting 500 red pine per year for the last 3 years and I'm running out of unused space. I would like to fill in some old hay fields of my Dad's that are not used and are full of useless grass. Anyone know anything about doing such a thing? Brian |

Ostdc, here in Fl if you plant it in pine, you get a tax break. It's call the

RE: Planting trees in fields
You need to talk to your local county forester or county agent. The CRP plan will pay you some per acre per year if you meet all the requirements. Having proof of income from the land due to some sort of crop being planted in a specific amount of time is one that ou need to meet. In Wisconsin there may be state help, but it is imperitive you talk to the local officials.
