Please Help!!! What to plant???

I just recently found out that I have 3 acres available to plant. The area is part of a field that used to be planted regularly, but now they don't so I received permission to put in a deer plot. My main problem is it's going to be field locked meaning I'm not going to be able to mow it. Is there anything I can plant in the spring that I won't have to worry about mowing that will still be attractive to the deer come fall. Please give lots of suggestions if there are any, and tell me why you believe this the way to go. I have rain coming in a couple of days, and would like to get it planted, if there are any possiblities for a spring planting?? Thanks ahead for any help!!

Gee guys, thanks for the help. 1 post in 4 days, and it just says "clover" guess I'll go the the QDMA site and see if I can get some help there.

The key is attraction. I have planted everything where I hunt and even though some of the plots were attractive, nothing was as easy to grow and attractive as oats. Just plain oats. I plant mine in Sept, late.

When do you get your first frost? Whitetail institute Powerplant will do good through the summer but dies off after the first frost. What I would consider is planting an acre of powerplant to draw them durring the summer and a couple of acre of clover to keep them aroud after the powerplant dies. From my experience I've found the deer prefer the powerplant to the clover but will switch over to the clover once the frost kills the powerplant.

It's just a suggestion but it's worked well for me. This year I'm expanding the powerplant plot and stretching the clover plot a little as well.

Try turnips I put some in late last summer because I didn't have the ground ready. Well anyway, try putting them in when you can. The deer didn't really hit them till a frost turned the starches to sugars. I mixed in 3 different kinds of clovers with it for a summer food. This year I'm putting in small patches of just turnips. Where I mixed in clovers I don't want to tear up trying to add turnips.
