Bobcat Problem
We are having a bobcat problem around the ranch. They are getting chickens, guineas, turkeys, and the quail population is also dwindling. We have taken three off the land in the past couple of months, but they still keep getting game and farm animals.
Our ranch is in Jack county Texas (North Texas, lots of Mesquites). Any ideas for legally baiting the cats, or a better way to track them or drive them off. Any good ideas? |
RE: Bobcat Problem
Find someone with good dogs. Hire someone (or do it yourself) to set alot of snares....everywhere. Try some cubby sets with visual attractants. Invite the locals to come and predator call (at night if legal).

RE: Bobcat Problem
if you can live trap a female, put her in a pen with a wire bottom and a metal tray under that. collect her pee and use that to put on you traps. if you can use leghold traps.dig a hole , set the trap in the hole and pour a few drops under the trap and cover with leaves and lite dirt.in the morning you got a big male, females will also dig into it.

RE: Bobcat Problem
Looks like my grandfather and uncle have broken out the traps. I never really have liked traps, but they have gotten two in the last week, and we haven't lost any more birds around the ranch.

RE: Bobcat Problem
I've been noticing a lot more bobcats in our part of the world, lately. For a while, I was only seeing one or two maybe once every few years. Now I'm seeing them on a pretty regular basis.
