Does it work?

I was hoping that someone could help me with some information on Plot Saver. I am planting a small plot this spring and I want to insure that the plants reach good development before the deer begin heaving grazing. Does Plot Saver work as well as they say? Will it effect me in September when I want to hunt over my plot? Thanks for the help!!!

I do not think they will over graze your plot befor time to hunt. The main reasion they come to food plots is there is les food druring winter. I think if a few of them start to come early they will lead the reast there.

But I am not sure the size of your plot or there deer numbers.

My plot size is relatively small (1/4-1/2acre) the deer population is high, however not overwelming. The reason I was considering Plot Saver is because of the small size of my plot. Thanks for the response!!

I'm not a big fan of Plot Saver. I know it can work though. You know the picture they show of the plot split in two - 1/2 protected - the other half open for grazing:

I tend to think that the very fact that the deer have an area to browse - other than the protected area - gives the illusion that it works better than it probably really does. (maybe if the whole plot was unprotected - the deer would only graze it 1/2 as much as the FULLY grazed section pictured?)

For me - What it really comes down to is that if the deer population is so high that I cannot grow a plot - then I need to reduce the poulation - OR increase the plot size. I know not everyone has this option - but I only see products like Plot Saver as a temporary fix to a real life problem - that can be solved with other management systems.

I agree fully. Good reply, honest. What more could you ask for.
