Food Plots

I'm going to plant deer food plots this spring on my land Northeastern Pa. I had a soil test done and they recommend 2 tons of lime per acre. I intend to plant some type of clover and an annual. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? I am also considering using a product callecd "Plot Saver", to keep the deer out until the clover get established. The equipment I have at this point is a tractor, tiller and spreader.

RE: Food Plots

I would plant white dutch clover, how big are the plots in acres, in another post you are talking about shoveling the lime on, 2T .a is a lot of shoveling brother, you need a drop spreader , you already have the tractor, just where in NE Pa are you located in the Pocono's, I have Snowmobiled in that part of the country...

RE: Food Plots

I plan on starting with about 2 ac. I bought a 3 pt. hitch spreader for my tractor, but I don't think it will spread pulverisied lime, which is the cheepest. My land is in Susq. Co. in Brooklyn Twn. My soil test calls for 4000 lbs of lime per ac. .

Ron M, Do you have an opinion on the product "Plot Saver" it is supposed to keep deer out of the food plot. It would cost me about $150. for two ac. I need all the help I can get this is too much money to spend without getting results.
