Crazy idea...Do you think it would work?

I've heard people say that their deer take a while to get used to new crops that they have planted, especially rape.
How about using a back pack sprayer and spray the foliage with something like diluted molasses or salt.
Has anyone ever tried this?

i've heard of ranchers pouring syrup (i.e. molasses) on straw to entice cattle to eat it.

i wonder if a salt mixture sprayed directly on live vegetation would have adverse affects.

patience, my friend, the deer will find your plot.........

You could spray lwith whatever they will eat it when they are ready, as l90ng as there are acorns, beans, corn and other food sources available thet will not bother the greens. Just let it be, they will get to it eventually..

Salt is harmful to plants, especially if it enters the soil. It prevents the roots from taking in water, killing the plant by dehydrating it. I am not sure what it would do on the leaves, but I would suspect it would draw out moisture and harm the plants.
