I went out to check our plots today and the 2.5 acres of biologic premium pernnial that is protected has no deer tracks in it and is about 3 inches tall after 3 weeks. The caged part also looks the same. now the 1/2 acre that is unprotected is barely 1 inch tall and has many bare spots and alot of tracks on it. The caged part in the unprotected side is 3 inches tall and looks like the protected side of the plot. So early results are good I am going to spray the tape again next week and will keep everybody posted. If the plot reaches 6 inches by oct 9th I will remove it then if not I will spray it again then and leave it up until early novemeber.

Thats good to hear I was wondering if that stuff really did work. just out of curiosity how much does a kit for something like that cost?

Sounds great to me. Somebody else to make my wife happy. I'm curious too, how much was it to cover such a large area? I would only do her rock garden and some smaller spots. Where are you from? terry

Well guys I am in western ny south of buffalo we have alot of deer 50 to 70 per square mile in this area. We are near 3500 acre county forest where hunting is not allowed and before this plot saver we could not get any plots established. This kit was for 3 acres and cost me 170 dollars if I buy more chemical treatment they say I can reuse the ribbon for 5 years. I also got stakes from them but I used snow fence stakes on the corners which has help keep the ribbon up in high winds. They have all different size kits and you can buy the materials separately go to www.plotsaver.com and check it out. I thought it was expensive but with all the work and money seed,lime,fert and equipment I am glad I got it.

thats not as expensive as I figured it would be but im glad to hear it works well and I now kinda have an idea of price for when my buddies ask me about it Good luck with your hunting this year

It is still early in the game I will keep this thread up to date it will be interesting to see if it keeps them out for another 5 weeks . We have tryed the plastic bag and soap bar trick it seems to work for 2 to 3 weeks then they dont scare anymore and start chowing down. Thanks for sharing the results, it sounds promising. I just ordered an acres worth of plotsaver last week to protect a plot of Extreme that I'm going to plant this weekend.

how do you set the stuff up? just run the ribbon around the plot on stakes and spray it with there chemical? how often do you have to spray it? and does it say how it keeps them away?smell or something?

I bought thier fiberglass stakes they came with the kit I bought. The stakes have clips on them that hold the ribbion, you set the ribbon at 30 inches and spray the chemical on. I used snow fence stakes on the corners to help keep it up in the wind so far none of it has come down. There is mixing instructions on the bottle for the chemical which is some type of oils I think roemary and mint this is what keeps them out. They say you should spray it about every 30 days.
