RE: winter canola seed

Canola comes from Rape seed. I planted the Dwarf Essex Rape and it did well, but the longevity wasn't what I had hoped. It was only $22 for 50 pounds.

I bought it a feed store in Freemont, Ohio. Any big place should have it.

Canola comes from Rape seed.
its the same plant, same seed etc. The plant was originally called rape but then the name canola came about. it is the same thing. Canola is a plant that doesn't handle the cold well. The slightest little nip of frost the plant is dead. Animals really enjoy canola especially when the plant is at the flowering stage. Not sure if you are planning on seeding canola or feeding the grain. But if you are feeding it make sure it hasn't been treated with any chemicals and its a good idea to mix it well with another grain preferably a cereal such as oats. The canola is really rich and make affect the digestive system of the deer when they comsume too much.
