Whitetail Mineral
 

I just picked up my first batch of mineral for the season. I used to make my own, but I have recently switched to I.D.O. Feed & Supply Corp. out of Fall River, WI.

I have only had the mineral out for a week, and the deer are already tearing away at the stump that I poured it on. It has an aroma of apple scent which is very sweet.

The contents are as follows:
Ca min......14.5%
Ca max......17.0%
P min........8.0%
NaCl min....18.5%
NaCl max....21.5%
Mg min.......1.0%
K min........0.6%
S min........1.0%
I min......20 ppm
Se min....2.2 ppm
Zn min...2000 ppm
Vit A.......50000
Vit D3......10000
Vit E..........50

Any questions or comments would be appreciated about the mix or application method.

I put out the mineral about this time every year. I pour it over a stump usually on a field edge where I don't intend to hunt, but allows me easy access. I refresh the site about once a month through the end of August.

My sites don't vary much from year to year. It all depends on how much of the stump they consume. The stump absorbs the minerals and the deer just chew away at it. It has been my experience the deer in my area prefer this method to just pouring the mineral on the ground then incorporating it into the soil.

O.K. here I am with questions and comments, you asked for them and I just want to help you out. hahhahaha Can I print your analysis and take it to the feed store and get them to give me all this stuff? Do you mix it and make a liquid out of it or just pour it on dry? How much of it do you make? Can you store it mixed, in a covered garbage can or barrel? Do you get the ingredients by the pound? If so how much do you make at a time? I'm not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree but I follow directions quite well. A little help please, I'd really like to do this. terry [o:)]

Lawnfarmer, just print this out and take it to your local feed store, they should be able to put it together. I have an apple flavoring added to it as well. I have it made in 25lb. bags, and pour it on dry over a stump.
