Default Best food plot for attracting and holding deer?

What is the best food plot for attracting and hold deer especially in the winter? My friend and I disagree in the fact that he believes corn will attract deer better than any food plot. What is the best blend for attracting deer and feeding them in the winter, also?

If there not corn anywhee in your area it wouldn't be bad. Here is the problem with corn. ITS ONLY A BIG DEAL LATE SEASON. The deer don't eat it until it becomes hard, late october in Minnesota. Then its good as long as its there! But what about spring, summer and early fall? Corn does give some good security in the summer(if its really big, a small food plot isn't a big deal) Plant a couple things that will offer something all year. Spring-summer-fall a good mix of clover, rape and chickory might be good and for the late season the corn would be hard to beat!

Good Luck!

Corn is a good late season deer attractant ... but to really answer your question requires knowing what area of the country you are located at.

Corn is used when there is little else or for cover. A little corn is good. Some winter wheat and some of the other products that are high in carbohydrates are what is needed.
