plantings this spring question

I, as you can see, live in Nebraska and I was wondering if I could plant rye in the spring since the pheasants like new, green growth for nesting and still reach maturity.

Without passion.....Why bother?

Yes, but why not plant something that has a higher protein and will bring in the bugs for the poults? Maybe some alfalfa or clover...

Lunchbucket-I am also planting clover near this and I have some Biologic close by also.
