Yellow Clover??
Here' s a plant I know ZERO about.
Yellow Clover (not a true clover),
http://www.inhs.uiuc.edu/chf/outreac...wysclover.html
Where I work - everyday - I look out the window at a 2 acre clearing that was made by a bulldozer in an aspen patch a few years back - its gone back to weeds now - and every day 5 deer come feed in it.
I went out today and pulled a plant - and have narrowed it down to Yellow Clover - I think - even the there are no blooms on the plant now. Its a dense stand maybe 3 ft tall and is kind of falling over like Vetch does. The leafs are ovate and in triplets (like birdsfoot trefoil - but its definitely not that) - Its " wiry" like a roadside weed. It has a large taproot.
Its amazing how the deer just graze on this stuff - even though apples and even clover fields are within site of the clearing.
I don' t think you can buy the seed - at least not at my co-op - I' m not sure I' d want to anyhow - it seems invasive from what I' ve seen of it. But - The deer sure seem to like it - ANYONE have any knowledge of the plant? Its sometimes called Sweet Yellow clover, Hop clover, anoce source calls it Black Medic - but I think thats a diferrent plant.
Thanks
