Can someone tell me the best way to spread ag lime? It is a powder form of lime and won't work in a broadcast spreader. Will it work in a conventional drop spreader? I heard of guys just spreading it by shovel, but kind of messy. Thanks

You may want to consider pelletized lime (pel lime). Pel lime can be spread from a broadcast spreader, usually reacts faster, but it is usually more expensive.

I have a 6 ft drop spreader just for lime......works fine ......

My local farm supply has a 2 ton lime spreader that they let you use free for a day if you buy 2 tons of lime. I go in with a couple other guys or just buy what I have to in order get the spreader. I can pull it with my truck back to the lease, put out the lime and haul the spreader back in half a day. You cant get easier than that. I have used my truck to put out the lime but the tractor works much better.

Drop spreader works fine. Pelletized lime is many times more expensive. We hire the job done. We usually have to apply 40-50 tons/year. Spreader service does it for cost of the lime + $6.00/acre.
