Food plot vs. Cattle.

The property I hunt on in Lavaca Co. Tx. has cattle on it that are rotated between different pastures and we are considering putting in some supplemental food plots for deer. Is there anything that can be planted that will be healthy and loved by deer that won't be touched by cattle? Thanks for your help.

Good luck with this one. Cattle are herbivores just like deer. As far as I know if its green and pallateable, the cattle will eat it. If I were you I would fence off a section of pasture and reserve that for a food plot. Deer can jump over a 5' fence and crawl under it if needed. Just keep out the cattle and the deer will find it.

I'll have to agree with St. Croix. The only real option here is to see if you can fence off a couple of acres here and their otherwise the cattle will get it.

Yeah, what they said !!!! Not only that, many of the specialty products are really high octane/protein and my harm or kill cattle...
