Best "throw and grow" type food plot?

I'm planning on planting some small 30'x30' food plots, but I don't have all the tractor equipment.
So I decided to go with the "throw and grow" type of seed, But I know nothing about food plot seeds and was wondering what the best is?

For where you are, a blend of winter rye (not rye grass), white/red/alsike clover, and mixed brassicas (rape, turnips, kale). I have something similar, but I doubt the crimson clover in mine will do anything that far north. http://bioplots.com/Bioplots_Throw_Pro.html

Beware of most throw and grows, most are repackaged ryegrass with very little wildlife value.

Even with the so called throw n grow seed blends the more you prep your soil the better your plot will be.At the very least take a rake and clean everything out, break the soil up as much as possible with the rake.Add some pelletized lime and nuke anything that growing. You will get out what you put in.Food plots are not easy and take lots of work to make them draw deer everyday..

You will want to kill off what is there with a Round-Up type product. Otherwise, you will see virtually no results. With the weed killer treatment, however, you can see some nice results without any heavy equipment. After all dies off, you should rake off the excess dead matter and also rough up the surface a bit, then seed it and press in the seed if you can, if nothing else using your boots. Some lime, as mentioned, probably would help too. You can get a Round-Up type product (glyphosate) very cheap at an agriculture supply store or online at about 1/8 the price of what you would pay typically at a home store for "Round Up".
