Fencing in food plots?

I would like to know everyones opinoin on this. Say I only have room for a 1 acre foodplot of beans, would it be wise to fence it in until it is well established? If so how would you fence it in, electric? Have some people tried this is the past? It would be a shame to create a new food plot and spend all the money with spray, fertilizer and seed just to be demolished before season, thoughts? Thanks. Jake

Look into a gallagher fence. You dont have to use that brand, but the diagram at the bottom shows the proper setup.

You think there is anyway to get away with that same concept but not buy a 400 dollar solar pannel?

Depending on your deer density you would deffinatly have to fence that small of a plot or the would wipe it out.I fence a acre of beans last year with electric fence and it works great.I bought a 6 volt parmak solar charger on ebay for $200 almost 1/2 mile of poly wire for $60 and over 1000ft of tape.Put 2-3 layers of wire from 12" to 5' and them about 36" out front add the tape al lthe way around at about 16-18" high and you should be good.I think total i spent under $400 and can use this over and over.If this will be in the same spot for a ong time concrete in your corner post so you came pull tight on the wire..

Yeah you can look for a cheaper solar panel, but you need something.
