"Buffer Crops"
 

Does anyone have any experience with implimenting these? I have heard of it being done to where you plant maybe a 10 yard strip of clover or some kind of deer plot around your crop field so the deer essentially eat the buffer crop first instead of going straight into you row crops. Does it really make that much of a difference from people who have tried this? Thanks Jake

Its not going to cut down on your crop damage.I will give them more protein and better stuff to eat. Maybe give you a closer shot before they move out into the open field .

One benefit would be that deer would be used to eating there all summer with an available food source before or between plantings. With crops such as soybeans and corn, single species plantings, you will loose quite a few plants. This in effect will add further pressure to your corn or soys due to the number of available plants with the same deer density.
