Default Were mtn. lions stocked in NJ to control deer Population?

Was recently told that the state of NJ stocked a few mountain lions to control the deer population. this was done around Warren County somewhere near the Delaware Gap. Wondering if anyone knows the truth to this?

I' m no expert but I would think that coyotes would do more damage to deer populations than mt. lions. More coyotes in one territorial range, can hunt in packs, etc. Another thing hunters kill thousands of deer a year and in some areas that still is not enough to control growing deer numbers. There is no way a few cougars could ever kill enough deer to control much of the population. They might get a few but not enough.

these rumors never seem to end.

here in kansas their have been dozens of sightings of cougars, but the state denies their existance. then all the rumors start about how the state has introduced them to control the deer population.

Is there anything more creative than an uninformed redneck who hates government and is convinced the DNR is releasing Mountin lions across the US, turkeys have become carniverous and eat quail, and that we have been visited by aliens on a regular basis? QDM is a plot, the Canadians are a subversive group cause they speak French, and we need to arm against those pesky Brits.

simply amazing.
