Off season grub
 

Got a question! I hunt in Alabama and I'm in the woods year round. I always keep feed stations out in the off season to keep my cams in the woods checkin out the deer. I can't really afford good protein feed, really just use corn. I know that's not benefiting my deer, but know some guys here that use rice bran. My question is, 1-do deer really like it, and 2- is it any nutrient value to the deer?

Protein feed really isn't much higher than corn, but yes rice bran is better than corn. Deer use isn't good as corn. I use food plots for food and use mineral sites as my camera locations.

Rather than feeding corn in the summer, you would do more good by buying a few bags of triple 13 and fertilizing briars, honeysuckle patches and other natural feeds for the deer. You would have a higher food value also. I wouldn't waste my money on corn. Either do that or plant some cheap food plots like iron clay peas, lab lab or some of the forage soybeans.

Can't plant in the spring, our property is still in flood stages and to wet for our tractors. Really just doing this to get deer picks and see what's out there. It's like going hunting when you get a good one on cam. Just thought it wouldn't hurt to try to benefit them while I played around. I like the idea of fertilizing natural vegetation, but don't think I'll be helping the saw briars any! Haha!

For spring/summer deer pics, try a mineral site or corn. Nothing else is even close.

Fall/winter, narrow that up to only corn.
