Tiller or Disc

I want to start putting in food plots. I can buy a new Disc for 700 or a new tiller for 1300. This would be for my 3 point on my tractor. My question is, is it worth paying 500 more dollars for the tiller or should i just buy a disc.

Thanks.

How big are the plots? Anything over an acre, I would go with a disk. I prefer disk for any size plot, but when you get over an acre or so the tiller really becomes less atractive because of how slow it is.

Also is the ground rocky? If so I would go with a disc or chisel plow. Two of my hunting spots is in the hills where there are alot of rocks, I use my chisel plow exclusively there.

I'd get a disk if I was you. But get a used one. I paid $250 for a used 5' disk about 10 years ago. You could probably find one for much less than $800 if you look at CL, ebay and local auctions.

I am in heavy clay. There is no way I could use a tiller this year because it is too wet. An ATV disc, however, works the surface topsoil nicely without churning up the nasty red clay. Your most important tool is a big tank of Roundup on a backpack or ATV sprayer!
