fall plots
due to extreme heat and drought i don't think my spring food plots are going to make much of anything this year. I had planted milo and soybeans. what have you used that worked well for a deer attractant in the fall. thinking about wheat, oats, peas, chickery? i have property in the flint hills which is pretty much all grass land but i do have public land adjacent which has farm ground on it. my other property is in agricultural country with lots of farm ground around it.

In the plots over 2 acres, you can do austrian winter peas. Smaller hunting plots, I like a mix of oats and crimson clover. You can also do a couple small chicory plots for insurance against drought for next summer. If your deer will eat brassicas, they make a real good winter food source.

It's a narrow old logging road in N.E. WV that totals up to be about 1/4. Not my primary plot but a good hunt plot which gets good morning and afternoon sun. I've only PH tested it and added the appropriate amount of lime to bring up to 6.5-7.0.
