Fertilizer ?
I have read that putting #6 penny nails into a tree base and at the edge of branches in the ground will help fertilize trees, is there any truth to this? If so will it work with red oak trees?

Honestly, it doesn't even make sense. I would say no, it's not true.

Could eventually be a source of iron I suppose, more likely a source of flat tires in the short term.
You do more by eliminating competition for sunlight than fertilizing when trying to increase acorn production. |
