IR cameras ARE NOT invisible to deer. Only cameras that have a true "black flash" are invisible to animals. The "red blob" IR is definately seen by all animals.

Depending on your budget, you will get what you pay for in trail cameras. Cheap cameras will miss shots and are very tempermental to weather changes not to mention you are not gaining anything in the way of patterning your animals.

If Your setting up a trail camera over a feeder You won't need as an expensive camera with a faster trigger speed...still as Valentine mentioned You get what You pay for in a better quality trail camera.


I highly reccomend the newer Moultrie D-55IR Trail Camera's it has long battery life and takes some really nice Night-time IR pictures and good day-time color pictures.The IR red-glow will scare some Deer but not as bad as a regulaer White-flash trail camera...if Your wanting only color pictures then stay with a regular "Flash" Trail Camera like the Moultrie D55 or the Cuddeback "Capture" Flash Camera.


The higher the mega_pixels on a trail camera the clear and better quality of picture You will have,the more LED's on the IR camera the clearer and further out the flash will carry and pick up animals in its field of veiw.There are several new Trail camera's out there on the market and like the "Plot Watcher" they have Video Mode capabilities where they can monitor an open field or food plot so You can see when and where the Deer are traveling...Moultrie has a newer camera that does this and I believe Leupold has also?
