What is the best in Clover seed

I've planted dutch white lots of time but I wanted is there a different kind of clover that deer seem to go nuts for ? I'm in the Nothern Climate ....

Thanks

Dutch white, ladino clover, red clover, they all work well. Up here in the north, they tend to go dormant shortly after bow season begins. Clovers work great for spring and summer food plots, but you may be disappointed if you would like to hunt over them. There are better fall options such as peas/oats mix, winter rye, and brassicas.

Thanks for your reply, Years back I was in MI and bought a small jug of Deer and Wildlife mixture that had a lot of clover in it. That was the best seed blend I ever used , but I can not find it now. I still have the bottle with the contents but can only get a few of the seeds involved.

Just thought I would toss out that question. I have a Brassicas plot now that they will not touch at all and its local blend, so I plan on going different for next year...

We have 7 inches of snow here, and the deer are hammering my turnips. Deer can be selective, and not eat brassicas in some locations (and they didn't touch mine all summer). I didn't plant a lot since I just bought this place last fall, and now I regret not planting a lot more!

It was probably a white or ladino clover in the mix. They are the most common in mixtures. Check out welterseed.com. You can buy many types of clover by the pound, and maybe you will find one that the deer in your area really prefer. Also, you may want to check your soil for proper pH and soil fertility.

Good luck with your plots and hunting.
