Need rain

Was bowhunting this weekend and my food plots dont look good. They need a drink of water, if they dont get a drink within the next week all may be lost. Its a shame to they were really looking good a week ago.

Our fall food plots are hurting too: We stopped planting because of the lack of moisture. Luckily, we left some of the spring plots that were planted in iron clay peas. The peas are growing on the ground and the deer are still hitting them. After the frost we will plant wheat and/or oats in those plots.

My seed is stacked up on the porch. We had about 3" a couple of weeks ago and I started to plant, but there was no more rain forecast for 10 days so I held off. Still no rain for 10 days so I'm going to wait, even if it is the first of Nov before I can plant. Several years ago I planted in the dust and lost all my seed. I'll hunt in Florida and pour out corn before I waste seed this year.

Good luck with the rain. Even up here in the upper midwest, where we are way above average on rain for the year, it has been dry for 2 weeks. The soil is still plenty moist here, and I hope you all get some timely rains.

Visited one of our places yesterday. That place got about 1.5" of rain on Sunday and Monday. The oats and wheat that were planted earlier are coming up well. The plots have greened up and they are looking good. No-tilled about two acres of mowed meadow yesterday with a old pasture drill.

Still no rain and none expected in the 10 day forecast. I would have been better off to just buy shelled corn and pour it out. My planting window is getting slim.
