Pampas Grass for Cover?

Has anyone tried planting Pampas Grass for cover/bedding area? I see this type of grass used for erosion control along the highways and it looks like it would work well to create a bedding or transition area. Not sure if the grass I am seeing is the same as the ornimental grass or if there are different types.

There are native grasses like big bluestem that make really good deer bedding. Pampas grass is called an invasive species in some states. i know of a half-section of land that is covered with pampas grass. It is spreading to adjacent property. It was planted there as an ornamental about 50 years ago.
