wood duck box
 
i have a duck box on my pond and when i was coming back from turkey hunting the hen was on the top of the box and the drake was in the water in front of it. i walked up to check the box for eggs but there werent any. since she was sitting on the box does that mean that she may lay in it? im in SC. when is the nesting season?????

They should be nesting about this time of year, sometimes they will nest more than one time in the nest. Check it again in a week or so, but don't run the hen off just to look.

when i saw her on top i walked by to check it out and she flew away with her mate
