pH levels have a huge affect on how plants grow. Certain plants like a high pH, alfalfa for example needs a pH of at least 6.8 to be grow well. Grasses, such as oats and winter rye, can do well in low pH soil, down to 5 is no problem. I would send a soil sample to the University of Missouri Extension soil lab. The basic test will tell you everything you need to know, and it costs $10 plus shipping. If you have questions on the results, just ask. http://soilplantlab.missouri.edu/soil/testfees.aspx Never pay extra for a "food plot" soil test. They do nothing different, other than ask for more cash.
