Throw aND Grow?
I bought some throw and grow and put it out yesterday it says no tillage needed so i just threw it out(as it says on the package)it has some kinna ryegrass some clover and some kinna grass called rape any of you had experience with this stuff if so does it work good?

Wasted money in my opinion. The rye grass will come up, the clover and rape(which is a very small % of the mix) usually dont. Deer dont particularly like rye grass, but that never stopped any one from selling it. You would have been better off with a 50 lb bag of oats for $10, and if you want to get fancy, add a couple pounds of clover for another $10-15.

The clover was the only thing that did come up out of the bag I used. Read closely, it isn't quite as easy as tossing it out, it has to make soil contact. I'm planning on running a small tiller over about a 1/4 acre just to break the top up and then toss out some seed for a small plot. Don't know if it'll work or not, but at least the tiller can be used for a garden so I won't go hungry.

Yeah sorry to say but you wasted your money.. There was been multiple treads on this forum about throw and grow and if it is any good. I have nothing good about it and I happen to use in a far to reach location that I could not get any equipment into, the only thing that came up as rye.

Well crap well, what do you guys use for food plot's I want some kinda something to attract the deer...:)
|
I planted it this spring and it died by july. All that came up was the rye. It might be to late to plant where you are? Newxt year I am going to plant just rape seed. One pf my friends planted it this summer and now it is higher than my knees and the deer are already eating it.

clover is probably easiest, turnips are good for cold weather. Oats work good too.

for a small personal food plot man its perfect. ive used it for 2 years and just got some put out today. the clover has always grown incredible in my plots. the new zealand brassica did good too. but the rape grass did rlly well this year. i like it and its a short and easy way to make a small personal plot.
oh just to kinda help you out... go back and take a metal garden rake and kinda tilll up the ground anywhere from 2-3 1/2 inchs and put a lil fertilizer out and it should take and grow healthy all year long good luck |
The worst crap I have ever used.Deer did not even touch it.
