Fall Plot Planted
 

Planted the 1st fall plots this past weekend. I wanted a couple Brassica/Turnip plots for fall and winter. We've tried a few in the past - and didn't really have any brand preference, just so-long as it had brassicas and Turnips.

So we settled on two brands to try

Plot 1. Evolved Harvest - Prograze - this plot was plowed and prepared for this planting.





Plot 2. Biologic Maximum - New Zealand Mix. This plot, we disked out a section of corn that was very thin.





We plan to broadcast a fertilizer - probably Urea in about 2-3 weeks if needed.

look like its gonna be a nice food plot. waiting to put mine in. I hunt in SW georgia. gonna put my winter ones in first week of sept. I have good luck down here with a mix of oats, rye, and buckwheat. when it gets cold, the foodplots are nice and green. Good Job

Isn't it too late in the year for corn to be that small?

That is a nice food plot. The cultipacker works very well for small seeds.

yes the corn in the foreground did not come well, and it was really spotty - most of what was here was knee to chest high. I left a couple rows when I disked it in - most of the corn growing well in the plots is Chest to Shoulder high. I'll need to hit this spot with fertilizer once it germinates.

We tried purposely to plant the corn thin, ($175/bag!!) we wanted to get as much out of 1 bag as possible. I cannot complain - we overlapped it into soybeans knowing that the the beans would fill in the spots -

Some plots came out too thin - or were too wet for too long - but overall - We'll do well stretching out one bag over several stip plantings.





The corn got mixed in with the soybeans some - so we have the od corn plants coming up in the main Soybean plots. We planted 7 bags of soybeans!

The last week of this month is when I'm gonna plant them. Nice looking plots you have there.

I've got a few bags of Whitetail Institute Secret Spot and Wintergreen to plant later this month. It's a good mix of some clovers, brassicas, and rye. I might throw in some extra turnips, too, since my uncle does this on his plots at his place and deer go crazy over them. The "No Plow" mix worked great over this past spring and summer, so I look forward to how these late-season plantings will do.
