Central Illinois Fall Food Plots??

Well I have pretty much slacked off and not done anything for the upcoming season. I figure I am late but not totally out of time. I am looking to add a spot near my stand about 1/4 acre. There area I hunt in is LOTS AND LOTS of corn and beans. Should I go with a clover blend? Brassics? or go with something like turnips adn rape? I just want to get something different that the deer might like. It would be a plus if it coudl be a perenial as that way I can I will only have to maintenance it next year in stead of starting off with new seed.

Check out the Fall Blend from Big Rack Trophy Products. It has rape, brassicas, turnips, and clover....a smorgasbord. I have had great success with it and it is one of the few mixtures that is virtually "weed seed free".

Well in my neck of the woods (east central Illinois) I cant get them to eat any brassicas or turnips or any mixture of that kind. I have tried 4 different years and just dont have the land to keep planting stuff they dont eat.
I have much better luck with cereal grains. Winter rye, buck forage oats, winter wheat and austrian winter peas throwed in for some candy till the first frost.

I would plant Buck Forage Oats and overseed with a white clover that works well in your area.

We have several plots planted in clover so the deer have plenty to eat for spring and into summer. This fall we are disking up several of the clover plots and planting a mix of oats and biologic maximum. We lightly disked the clover and didnt spray it so it will come back in the spring after these fall plots are gone. Some of our new plots we are planting biologic green patch plus. It has oats, wheat, clover and brassica. I think it runs about $20 or so for a half acre bag.
