Food plot help
Ok guys, On my land in Central Mississippi I have seven food plots I plan on planting that are about 1/3 acre across 206 acres. All of them are facing northwest/southeast and northeast/southwest. I already got a soil sample of ph6.7 and i put out 500lbs of 8-24-24 a couple weeks ago. Everything is sprayed and tilled just now have to plant. I have quite a bit of seed blends and I want to offer the most i can for all game on the property. I plan on planting a blend of soybeans, cowpeas, sorghum, buckwheat, millet and sunflower. Lets call this BLEND 1
I was given a couple hundred pounds of a blend that consists of dward essex rape, sterling rapeseed, bob oats, dixie crimson clover, alex berseem clover, yucci arrowleaf clover, brundage winter wheat, advantage ladino clover, and six point chicory. Lets call this BLEND 2
My question is after I plant BLEND 1 and run a disc over it should i throw out the BLEND 2 on top and run my atv over it since the seeds are so small..Or is it to early to plant this and wait. I figured with the foodplots being in the directions they are in they wont be getting hammered by the sun all summer.
I plan on doing all the planting on Memorial day weekend. That Sunday morning they are saying is supposed to have a front come in.
Land is in Camden MS, 20 miles north of Jackson.
Thanks for all the help, sorry for the book..
