fertilizer & soy beans?

I have heard anywhere from 50-150 # per acre of 13 13 13. WITHOUT the aid of soils testing, any blanket recommendations?

Without a soil test, any suggestions would be nothing more than a guess.

Go buy one of those soil testing meter probes. Alot cheaper than buying fertilizer that is not needed or not enough lime and the crop never reaching it's potential.

The probe testers are notoriously inaccurate and most only measure Ph. A soil test costs less than $10.

I personaly think right now(spring) techomonte lab-lab/mix or biologic lab-lab ,witch i think techomonte is better it has all your beans in it. you can use 10-10-10 or 13-13,but try and wait as long as you can for it to come up with out it getting chomped down to put it on. I am also considering trying cover plus or premium perennial w/a bag a alfalfa mixed (thats per biologist from bioilogic in south texas region). then for the last minute (last week august -1st week of sept) put out hot spot from biologic, but use 2 bags.its the best ever.its takes about 2-3 weeks to come up and last about 2 months.thats why you want to plant it heavy. no need to till or disk with it just use a rake and have rain or water source. i hunt in south texas. techomonte lab-lab is 49 a bag, same most lab lab bags. 13,13 fert should be 15.99 if you dont get ripped off per bag,hot spot is 14.99 -12.99.good luck if you have any questions just email me [email protected]

as long as your ph is above 5.5 for beans and about 6.5 for aplha you dont need lime just fert it after it starts coming up.

If you can get bagged 9-23-30 (popular corn starter fertilizer blend) at a local co-op, 100-200 lbs/a would be a good guess without a soil test. 10-10-10 is mostly filler, 13-13-13 is not much better. Those fertility meters are questionable. I agree with M.Magis.

Agree with above, soil test. In absense of a soil test, 9-23-30 would be better, 10-20-28, or anything similar.100 lbs of 13-13-13 per acre is practically nothing, so most likely will notdo anyharm. Add 50 lbs of 0-0-60/acre to that and call it a day.

most farmers I know don't fertilize SB just use roundup and keep weed free if RR variety. Then they plant a different crop the next year.
