Call your local soil conservation office or county extention office. Here in OK. They want 10 samples(1-2" diameter and 4+ inches deeps) for the area to be tested. I usually put them in a zip lock and mix them together.

Ollie, take a bulb planter, and a 5 gallon bucket. Takes at least 10 samlpes throughout the plot and place them in the bucket. MIx them well and fill your bag from the well mixed soil. This will give you a good average ofph levels, and by telling them what you plan to plant they wil tell you what to add to the soil to make that crop grow. Macro and micro nutrients and minerals, mahnesium,boron, etc will be necessary for a successful crop.
