clover questions
 
how much sun does clover need to grow healthy? and how deep do it roots go will it be ok to plant it some place where the water leval is only about 4 feet down? and how deep do the roots of alfalfa go?

Clover needs full sun. You may get away with 1/2 sun but the growth won' t be as good. It' s roots go down 2-3' . Alfalfa' s roots can go down deeper (6-8' ) if the soil isn' t hard packed. You should be OK planting clover if the water table is 4' down unless the area floods badly during the wettest part of the year.

The ladino clovers rarely root more than a few inches. Alfalfa will root 10 or more feet. Water level is not the deciding factor unless your planting in a folld plain. Soil type will dictate which product may be successfully in any location. The ladinos may do well if with 3-5 hrs of sunlight a day if the soil nutrients are right...
