Feeders are Driving me NUTS! Batterie help please.
 

Ok it seems like my feeders dont just eat batteries they blow through them like me after a beef and bean burritto dinner and prune juice in the morning. They just lose the juice to fast. So....I am thinking rechargable batts.I will buy 2 complete sets and change them out every two to three weeks. So here are the questions.

Should I try to drain them complete before I recharge them.

Are there any brands that stand out as to being the most durable.

Are there any places that sell the rechargables that I should look at.

What amount of time should I get from a charge in relation to a normal 6v Batt.

What is the life(in terms of charges) that I should expect from a rechargable.

Is your feeder capable of using a 12 volt system?

If so, I would look into using a rechargable 12 volt set up. Another option is I have seen solar chargers for the feeders and I think they may be able to be kept on the feeder 24/7 keeping it charged.

I would look into those 2 options.

Got a 6 Volt solar panel on mine and don't have to mess with it all season!

In the pastI have been right where you are but about 10 years ago I spent a little extra money and put a nice dependable feeder together and as of today have not had to do any maintenance what so ever. I put a magnum 12v thrower and external solar panel on it, and like I said I have never had to touch the battery since and I run it year round. I now own 4 of these and had to change my first part on any of themlast month, I had a solar panel go bad on the feeder in the pic but it lasted for 8 years....
