When to put out Lime?
I am going to plant a brassica and turnip plot around August 15th. When should I put down lime now or should I wait until I plant the seed?

RE: When to put out Lime?
It would have been best to have put it out in Feb or March. It takes 6 or so months to really get a good reaction from the lime, so the quicker the better.

RE: When to put out Lime?
timber is right. I put down lime back in the last week of Jan. The guys at the Whitetail Institute recommended that. I guess it takes a while for it to actually change your ph.

try putting some hydrated lime down now.

RE: When to put out Lime?
Hydrated lime is supposed to be the best and it reflects in the price (2x) pulverized lime. It is said that it takes a ton of lime to raise the Ph 1 point and it takes about 4-6 months to penatrate 1/2" . I put lime down at least 2x before I am ready to plant in the late summer,Feb/March and again in May/June.
Good Luck ! I surrendered I hunt in Del. CountyNY and If it's brown it's down is the white tail management theory with the weekend warriors that hunt near my property. |
