$$$Fertilizer$$$

I checked on a ton of 13-13-13 yesterday at the Co-Op and the price was about $650 a ton. A couple of months ago it was about $530 there. Wal Mart still has it listed for about $560 but not many bags in stock. I'm going to try and gather some up at the Wal Mart before the prices go over $700...........

Timbercruiser, I didn't know that you were an oil speculator too :-)

Don't know where you read about that, but if the project works like it is suppose to it is a very lucrative possibility. DynoMotive has a plant in Canada that has been operating for a few years.

No; I meant that you are stocking up on fertilizer which is tied to the price of oil and natural gas. The investment that I'd like to make is oil shales. The US is sitting on 5 Saudi Arabias of oil just watching conventional supplies run out. Only be those that own it who will benefit, everyone else will just pay.

Fertilizer was double what I'm used to.

This year - we planted corn with 46-0-0 Urea instead of a 20-20-20 mix like we usually do. We figured we could get away with it singe we rotate crops and haven't harvested any in 9 years. (other than what the deer eat).

We also planted more Beans than corn - and skipped fertilizer altogether on some sections.

Saved us about $300.00 FH
