Southwest Va foodplot

I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for what i should plant on my land as a food plot. It is in the southwestern part of Virginia. It is mountianous and pretty much hardwoods with a small section of pines, 88 acres with a pond. I know there are alot of deer around there and I would like to entice more of them to my property. I would also be interestedin food for grouse.

Thanks

RE: Southwest Va foodplot

If you are wanting an annual fall plot, I would recommend a brassica/wheat/oat mix. I have heard a lot of good things about this mixture. I am trying Green Patch Plus (brassica, wheat, oats and clover)this fall in my annual plot. In mountain country, I heard the brassica has great drawing power in late fall/winter.

If you are wanting to plant a perennial plot, I would recommend a clover/chicory plot. Ideally, if you have the area, place out a perennial and an annual plot and you can maintain them seperate.
