Pumpkins

here in south east minnesota the game warden told me that they are having a lot of problems with people using pumpkins to bait deer however if it was part of a food plot mix it would be okay i was told. But I was wondering do deer reallylikepumpkins?

I've always heard that deer love them. the guy at the local coop swears by them. I tried planting some last year but didn't see one dang pumpkin. You can normally get seeds pretty cheap so it's worth trying I think.

Deer love pumpkins. After the frost softensthem, they'll kick them apart and eat them. Around here where its legal to bait, the unsold post-Halloween pumpkins get scarfed up by deer hunters who break them open so the deer can get at them.

deer do like pumpkins but they love pumpkin blossoms more thats why you did not see pumpkins last year. try planting later in the years so they'll bloom in oct.

Do lyou think it would work to cover them with the nets taht you cover berries in your garden with until they start to show the pumpkins

I think a temporary fence would work better.

Deer will eat pumpkins. The problem with planting them in an area with deer is they will likely eat the blooms as soon as they emerge. This will eliminate your pumpkin crop.
