I am looking for ideas for a summer plot in Southern Iowa. We have clover and corn already, and will put in some turnips in the fall. But I have a plot that is about 2.5 acres that I would like to plant for the summer. This plot will have turnips in it for the fall. We have tried buckwheat in the past and I wasn't real pleased with that. Any ideas would be appreciated.

If it is nottoo late,plant milo and cowpeas together. The cowpeas climb up the milo stalks. The deerlike both.

Thats a good plot idea or try lab lab even better nutrition than cow peas

Soybeans - its not too late - and you can mow or disk them in for a fall planting.

Get them in soon. Cowpeas might work - but with soybeans - you can get roundup ready beans - and spray once in mid summer to get the plot ready to over seed in late summer.
