Oats questions

I planted mine in early April and they're doing pretty good - probably about a foot tall in places (can't say the same about the clover that's in with them). Will the oats keep going all summer and into the fall, or will they die off before the fall? The deer sure aren't feeding in there at this point.

I've got another 68lb bag that I've got earmarked fortwo plots in August and it seems that those are the ones that'll be hit during the fall if what I'm reading here is correct. In one field, the oats will be planted with turnips and in the other, they'll be by themselves. I'll have the oats next to a buckwheat plot.

Does this seem like a reasonable plan?

RE: Oats questions

Dave,
Your oats will die off this summer. I would also say that they are of little value from this point on as a nutrition plot for your deer. You might consider mowing or killing the plot before it gets too big and planting a summer annual.
