Trying to decide....
We have designated part of our plots (2 acres) to plant this spring in some type of perennial food source. I have narrowed it down to either alfalfa or clover, but I am still open minded on other food sources. I have also thought about mixing the alfalfa and clover together, has anyone ever tried this or heard of it. One might take over the other, I am not for sure. I am just curious on your thoughts on what I should plant and what you have had success with? We are in the process of getting a good seed bed prepared and getting the pH right. Any hints, tips, and ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks, Trent |
RE: Trying to decide....
I have mixed clover with wheat it does fine. Clover to me has always been hard to grow anyway. It could just be the hard red clay I have to plant. I know clover needs alot of rain.

Trent - check out my post "Food Plot Basics - Do's and Don't". It comes with 10+ years of experience with food plots. Tell me about your soil and water conditions and I can make some suggestions on what seed to plant.
