Making dusting areas and planting chufa

How do you make places where turkeys like to dust? And will chufa come up by middle of April here in Piedmont of NC?

It has to be loose and relatively soft, and for the most part weedless. Clay and sand are two of the most effective!

Do not plant chufa if you care about your property. Chufa is nutgrass,it spreads like wildfire and is very hard to wipe out.

That is one thing I've yet to have success with here. Best I figure the turkey come pluck it out immediatly after planting.

As far as a dusting area just get out there and disc up an area near there travel corridoor and don't let the grass come up.

Around here people usually don't plant chufas till about June or so. Never heard of them being invasive.
