XxxXXRoyxx7- Yes the foot was nasty -

I had a doe in my crosshairs, and had decided to take her- but then this one came up the hill on three legs.[:'(] When it became apparent that the deer had a real issue - I decided I needed to take this deer. Strange wound, the foot was crushed - not a gunshot wound, maybe a woodchuck hole or possibly a car had run over its leg.

The Corn plot was a late season magnet - and gave all of us hunting a chance to look over a few deer.

Did you have snow at your hunting site?

All I'm hearing in south Bama and north Florida is ACORNS. Dang things are everywhere. They come to the plots some, but nothing like they have in the past. I havn't seen a rack buck this year.

I planted buck forage oats for the first time this year, the deer hit them hard in october and then didnt touch them the rest of the year, i hunt in northern MI, i blew a couple chances on some fat does in the early season off the plots, but i sure wanted to take a couple out of the herd, once the acorns fall its hard to compete with them

Oh man my favorite topics..... foodplots and deer!!!!!

Started the year with my boy killing his first deer from my corn plot that I put rye around the edges.

Then I shot a doe from another corn plot flanked be beans.

Shot a nice buck the 4th of Nov. as he was coming out of my rye plot heading into the corn bean combo plot.

Heres the rye plot with some turnips in the back ground.

Mt boy shot his second deer of the year from the same stand I got my doe, the corn bean combo plot.

Heres that plot in late august.

Then late november I shot this guy as he left his doe fawn girlfriend to eat a little rye. Same stand as my bow buck!!:D

Heres a few that made thru season and were caught enjoying a little rye!!
I know rye will be in my rotation from here on out.

Little snow is not going to stop them from eating some rye either!!

FH, I shot a button buck on the woods side of a corn plot, then, late muzzleloader, a big doe in buck forage oats. The BFO was unbelievable in the late season, pawed through the snow and mowed down to the nub in spots. I planted the BFO on Labor Day, and it was extremely dry for about 10 days after panting. Nest year I will be planting it in early august. When I figure out how to post pics I will put some up.
