I've heard good things about Red Cedar, anyone know how to start growing it from scratch?

Online you should be able to find some nurseries that you can buy direct from at a better price, or your county forester might be able to help get some. Depends on how many you want. If you just want an acre or so you might be able to ride around some farms and dig up a couple of hundred or so saplings.

Original question was regarding plantings to provide cover for whitetails, not food source.
