An ATV is not the best thing to pull a disk with. i know several guys who have trashed their ATVs doing so. |
RE: atv disc
I went the ATV disc route several years ago with poor results. My soil here is heavy clay and the disk wasn't heavy enough to penetrate soil much. In the end I added some weight to it and eventually it burned out my tranny. This seems to be a common problem with ATV pulled disks. So I ended up buying a 14' disc at an auction for $150, and then cut it down to 8' so it could be pulled down my trails. Cutting it down takes some skill, but I still only had roughly $200 into it after all said and done. Taz

RE: atv disc
Do not buy and ATV disc, not matter what. They are very expensive, and dont near the job and old fashioned 15 foot disc you pull behind a tractor will do. I don't know if you have a tractor, but that is what i recommend.

RE: atv disc
We bought a King Kutter compact disk at TSC this spring for $400. It works great. We have a 500cc honda and had no problems with it. Not ideal and I wish we had a tractor but we didn't and still got two 1.5 acre plots in on virgin soil.

RE: atv disc
Thanks Chase I appreciate that. Nvrhapy, with that name not sure if I want to help(ha ha) let me know what atv you have and I will try to help. |
RE: atv disc
I have a Biologic atv disc I used. It works OK, but you need to make sure you spray before you use it for maximum effectiveness. For a smaller plot in the woods it works, on our larger ones, we use the tractor. It was pretty expensive for teh amount we use it ($400 used), and I agree it is probably not very good for teh atv. Our plots came in pretty well though.
