Soft Red winter Wheat?
Just a quick question. Do or will Deer eat the wheat? I accidently picked up a bag thinking it was shelled corn and can't return it. So I was wondering if it was worth putting out for the deer. Thanks for all your help.

RE: Soft Red winter Wheat?
It depends what else is available at the time. Might be better off planting it as a food plot, once the rest off the forage and mast are gone they should hit it.

RE: Soft Red winter Wheat?
They will eat it, but it isn't something you want to feed them a lot of.
It comes up very easy, so you might try just scattering it out along a trail or in a clearing. Deer like the young plants. You don't even really have to till it in. You can just scatter it out across the ground, and take a yard rake and rake over it just enough to scratch the dirt. |
RE: Soft Red winter Wheat?
north texan is right, better to scatter on the ground in hopes of seeding rather than feeding it freely tothe deer.
