fertilizer question??????

I have always used 13-13-13, it has worked great. But what about some 24-24-24, I dont lime or get soil samples or anything, I just plant iron clay peas and wheat mixes. Would the 24-24-24 work better than 13-13-13?

for the most part 10-10-10,20-20-20,etc, is basically the same, just different concentrations. I'd think for peas you may want alittle more nitrogen than phophoros/potash. maybe a 2-1-1 ratio may work better. taz

tazimna; why wouldn't you use an innoculant with the peas and let them (legumes) fix their own nitrogen?

Killadoe; just adjust the addition rates (10-10-10 is half of 20-20-20) and you'll get the same results. The biggest advantages with the 24-24-24 will probably be a little less cost per unit of fertilizer, less fertilizer to lug around and spread.

It works the same, and you can lift/haul/spread 1/2 as much to get nutrient quanity. 46-0-0 Urea for Nitrogen, 0-42-0 for phosphorus, and 0-0-60 Potash for potassium. Bigger numbers usually same money, time, and work.

What Dan O said. The #'s on the bag are % concentrations. A 10-10-10 contains 10% Nitrogen, 10% Phosphorus and 10 % Potassium. Higher numbers means you use less.
